Billy yaluu

Billy again. Yaluu is now commonly used as a farewell word. It actually means ‘again’. Its use as a farewell is an abbreviation of something like ‘yaluu ngali ngamilay’ – we2 will see each other again. In the heading above it just means ‘again’.

The ABC gulay/web site has an article which includes some of Billy’s comments, and a link to Tracey Cameron speaking on ‘Word Up’. Ngamila the article nguwalay/here. Tracey will be teaching Gamilaraay 1 at the University of Sydney next year.

Gamilaraay will also be taught at ANU in 2020, both face-to-face and online, with the online course also available from Open Universities Australia.
